Let Go

Christine Caine wrote this really good article on letting go in her “First Things First” devotional. “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight (Proverbs 3:5-6). I think one of the greatest struggles people have is when we try to hold on to what we cannot control. We want a certain relationship to work out. We want a certain job. We want our lives and our circumstances to look a certain way. That was my biggest struggle the day I found out I was adopted. For 33 years, I had not known the truth of my origins. So when this unexpected news came, it hit me hard. But I knew in that moment, I had a choice to make. I could either choose to trust in the Lord, or I could question His goodness. I chose to trust the Lord and let go of my need for answers, despite the questions that came as a result of such shocking news! During that time, God taught me a very important principle: It is only when we let go that we can lay hold of what He has in store for our lives. We must keep our trust in the Lord and lean on Him for wisdom and understanding, for He will make our paths straight. He will show you the way forward!”
