Alabama’s Quarterback Wins

Tua Tagovailoa burst onto the national stage with an incredible second-half performance during Alabama’s overtime victory against Georgia on Monday night. The quarterback completed 14 to 24 passes for 166 yards with three touchdowns and one interception to lead the Crimson Tide back from 2 13 point deficits during Alabama’s 26 to 23 win. To cap off his performance, he threw a game-winning 41 yard touchdown pass to Devante Smith to silence the crowd in Atlanta. That’s not surprising since the freshman revealed that he spoke in tongues to keep calm during a high-pressure second half against the Bulldogs. “I was praying”, Tagovailoa said. “I was speaking in tongues. It kept me calm.” He prayed before positions. He prayed after positions. He prayed and passed and scrambled his way into victory. “I would say my poise comes from my faith,”he said. “I just pray for peace.” His first comments after the game gave God all the glory. “First and foremost, I’d like to thank my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ”, he said, tapping his heart with one hand. “With Him all things are possible, and that’s what happened tonight.” Evangelist Franklin Graham said, “It’s great to see a young athlete like this use his platform to acknowledge what God has done in his life, in front of millions of people. That’s a win-win.”
