The Extra Mile

Cristano Ronaldo, the Portuguese soccer superstar, was asked to donate his cleats and a signed jersey for an auction to help a 10-month old baby, who needed life-changing brain surgery.  He did that and so much more.  He will pay for not only the entire $83,000 operation, but also for all follow-up visits, which cost $8,000 each time.  One news article described his actions as going the extra mile.  That was such an extraordinary act of kindness.  It makes you think, because we all have probably felt “put out” when someone has asked us to do the smallest favor.  The next time the opportunity presents itself, will you go that extra mile?
