Pure Determination

We all have had to do things in the course of our life that were difficult, such as any medical, dental, or legal procedure, passing an important test, or having a life-changing meeting.  Sometimes we just knew we were supposed to do something extremely difficult, but we made the decision to do the right thing.  That’s what Marine veteran Rob Jones did when he was recovering from losing both legs above the knees.  Not only was he determined to relearn how to ride a bicycle again, but he was determined to cycle across America to benefit some of the charities that helped him during his recovery.  There are nearly 2,000 amputees among the 50,000 U.S. servicemen that have been wounded in Iraq and Afganistan.  It took Jones 6 months to cycle the 5200 miles from Bal Harbor, Maine to Camp Pendleton, California.  He is donating 100% of the $100,000 he raised to charities that help wounded servicemen.  His brother said, “If someone can do an activity that requires legs, and can do it without legs, then you can do anything”.
